Extreme Poker Anyone?

Poker has many variations that have enjoyed popularity at some point or another. But how about penalties for losing? What started as a joke by an Irish bookmaker is going to be a real tournament featuring 200 players. Playing strip poker.

There’s also a bid to get this event into the Guinness Book of Records. The tournament is supposed to take place in London, England, on August 19/06. The winner gets a Golden Fig Leaf trophy and just under US$20k in cash. (I vote for a strip poker game with Drew Barrymore and Pamela Anderson.)

No sweat? (Hope not.) Okay, imagine this: You’ve got A,K-spades. The flop is Js,4d,10s, giving you THE nut flush draw. No one has bet high pre-flop, so you go all in. But you’re up against a cautious player who actually has trip fours, due to the flop. They’re bold, and decide to match you. Fourth and fifth street fail you, and you’re out of the game. Not only that, you and everyone at the table who loses has to jump from the plane at 15,000 feet. [via InterPoker.com]

The winner of this Extreme Poker tournament got an all-expenses paid trip to the 2006 Caribbean Poker Classic. Each Extreme Poker tourney tests the losers’ abilities to handle extreme environmental conditions, including deep water and Arctic ice shelves.
