Lucky You - Poker Film Starring Drew Barrymore
When my fave Charlie’s Angel, Drew Barrymore, was on set for the poker-based Lucky You movie, she didn’t get to take lessons from poker legend Doyle Brunson. Brunson taught some of the other actors in the film, but Drew missed out because her character was only a lounge singer. Now that filming has finished, she’s getting into the playing spirit by learning what she can of the game. [via Yahoo! News]
Barrymore admits to holding $20 or $100 buy-in games (likely illegal) with friends and members of her boyfriend’s smoking hot rock band The Strokes. Hmm. Boyfriend, huh? I have a long-standing bet with an old friend (hey Razor Nowacki, where are you?) about whether or not I’d have a chance with Drew. My friend said no, but that was a few years before Barrymore was married (really?) to un-funny Canadian comedian Tom Green.
While The Strokes’ Fabrizio Moretti might be in a hot band, he’s only kinda geeky-cute, I guess. Me thinks Drew likes outcasts who would have been beaten up in high school. But hey - I once drew repeated, longing looks from Alanis Morissette, just before she hit it big, at a record release party for a Toronto band. So why wouldn’t I be able to get a date with Drew? :)
