Hooters Hold ‘em

So I’m checking my email the other day and up pops this big orange box announcing that my local chain of Hooter’s restaurants were holding an 8-week Texas Hold ‘em tournament, administered by the National Pub Poker League, with a grand prize of a trip for two to the grand opening of the new Hooter’s Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Oh, and it started that night! I’m not a big fan of chicken wings, but I’ve always been a big fan of Hooter’s and I’m definitely down for some Hold ‘em so I ran home, changed into my favorite Jack Daniels shirt, put on my pimp jewelry and hit the local Hooters. And to top it all off I got an extra $1000 chip just for bying an entree!

It was tough, let me tell you. All night long I had to stare at 20-year old Hooter’s girl cleavage. And that was the dealers! But I somehow managed to limp through the field of 16 players and end up as the short stack at the final table. I guess I’m a bit of a grinder because I somehow managed to outlast the others and placed 2nd. But several of the top players received automatic invites to the local store final and also to the NPPL regional qualifier which has a grand prize of a free entry and trip expenses into the World Poker Challenge in Reno, NV the last weekend in March.

So, February 25 I will be playing at the infamous South Fork ranch for the NPPL regional at the infamous South Fork Ranch, and March 6 I will be in the local Hooters Week 9 store final to see if I can represent my store in the regional final. I’m pumped!
