Turning $6 into $48

Had a really great time playing online last night. I entered a $6 + $0.60 qualifier tourney on Full Tilt and the top 4 (out of 20) won $26 tourney coupons. So I used my coupon to enter a $16,000 Guaranteed tourney. By the time it started 740 people had registered. When the second break came around I had been playing great - maximum participation when I had a great hand, a fair amount of luck, and I was hanging around in the top ten a lot. At one point I was floating between 2nd and 4th, with second place paying out over $1,600. But my luck turned a bit and I took big hits on a couple of hands. KK against my QQ, stuff like that. But the one that really irks me was after I had dropped back down the list and I had a pair and I hit trips on the flop. After the turn there was a straight draw on the table for my opponent and I KNEW he had it, but I couldn’t stop calling. Sure enough, he had the straight and I was gone. 48th place, $48.

On a positive note I am placing in online tourneys on a regular basis. What is difficult is getting a big stack and hanging on to it. Gotta work on that part…
