Matusow wins Tournament of Champions

Mike Matusow won the 2005 World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions early on Wednesday morning. The same tournament that Daniel Negreanu criticized early this week for allowing Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, and Doyle Brunson in, even though they never qualified.

Well, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow qualified and played some great poker. It seems like we’ve been seeing Mike at a lot of televised final tables this year - are his blow ups over? He is definitely a good player and very entertaining to watch. His whining and arrogance are much more tolerable than Hellmuth’s for whatever reason.

I enjoy watching Mike play; he plays aggressive, fearless poker and he is definitely one of the best tournament players out there. He makes good reads and knows the odds as well as anyone - a dangerous combination at the table.

Check out Las Vegas and Poker Blog for a more detailed recap of the final table and some more information on Mike’s roller coaster year - from getting out of jail to winning $1,000,000 in cash at the WSOP Tournament of Champions.

This will be the most interesting poker show you will see this year. Mike not only plays like a pro, he entertains the crowd like a pro. He kept the table and the audience laughing, booing and clapping for most of the night. This show is scheduled for Christmas Eve, December 24, 2005 on ESPN, the broadcast home of they WSOP. I will post additional articles for this, the most entertaining final table of 2005.
