The All-in Equalizer

Bad luck knocking you out of every tournament you play, having to lay down big hands after the flop to aggressive players? Here is your solution: The All-in bet. An all-in raise is one of the most powerful tools in NL Holdem. It forces your opponents to make a decision right then and there for all their chips, with no chance of bluffing at you later in the hand.

Mike Sexton wrote an article for CardPlayer Magazine about the all-in bet, and points out that moving all-in is a good way to take the skill out of the game. If you’re overmatched and just went all-in everytime you had a good hand, you would force your opponents to have good hands too, simple as that. Needless to say that would make for hideous poker, but it would work.

Check out Mike’s full article here, it’s definately worth a read.
