Moving up in limits
Written by Glenn on October 4th, 2005
I’ve stuck to my plan and played through 50 $10 heads-up SNGs and it is time for me to move up in limits. Next on the warpath: $20 heads up SNG.
As I said I played through 50 heads up matches, here are all those stats:
Buy In $10.50
Number Played 50
Finished 1st 22
Finished XXX 28
In The Money 44.00%
Buy In $525.00
Return $880.00
Profit $355.00
ROI 67.6%
I’ve bolded what I consider the key points, the percent of times in the money (AKA 1st place) and my total profit. My return on investment was 67.6%, two thirds. Essentially that means if I put in $100 I would get $167.66 back. Neato! So it’s finally time for me to move up to $20
I played two matches tonight and noticed an obvious increase in preflop raising. These guys were raising with everything! I ended up winning one SNG and losing one. I lost the 2nd one with A♣K♣ to 3♣4♣ I reraised preflop (yeah he raised, haha) and he called, then he hit low pair 3s and after my all-in on the turn he thought and decided to call, winning the game. The guys are much more willing to call and are better at reading opponents. When someone calls all his chips with low pair vs your AK it’s a bad feeling, but I still won 50.0% so far, so I’m in the black for my first two $20 SNGs, hopefully the next 48 go just as well!
Wish me luck!
Steven
