Quads are cheap
Written by Ben on August 17th, 2005
In the first 2 years I played poker I think I saw quads one time. In the past 3 weeks I’ve seen quads one time…every game.
The first time I hit quads I had folded pocket 3s preflop and the flop came 3&spades3♣9♥.
The next time I hit quads I lost. I had moved all in preflop with K&spadesK♦and the board showed J&spadesJ♦J♣J♥Q♥. My opponent held A10o and he won with quads, ace high.
In the next game I got extremely lucky with KQ v KK and the board showed Q♣J♦3&spadesQ♦Q♥ Pretty sick.
Later, in the same game, I had an A and the board showed 3 aces.
A few games later I was playing and I held 5♣5♦ against Mitchell. He raised to 1000, I called. The flop came 5&spades6♣5♦. Wow. He bet 1200, I cold called. He moved all in on the turn, I “reluctantly” called mumbling something about how I had quads and he was drawing dead.
I won’t complain about getting quads like it’s nothing - but I hope I don’t run into a streak of bad luck where I can’t even catch a pair.

Yep!
It does come in runs doesn’t it? Isn’t it weird how that happens?
You go from having awesome hands but getting bad beats every time, to being unstoppable even when you play 7d9d or Ad5d. Those were what I hit my last two straight flushes on. Meanwhile my KK gets beat by K7 just two weeks ago when I was having a string of bad luck. Go figure!
I hope your luck holds up! And I’ll be sure NOT to play you until your luck fades!

You could at least mention that I had 99 and the flop was perfect for me :-p
